GP 14 Series 2 Construction Manual

The original GP14 was designed by Jack Holt 50 years ago. Developed as a general purpose dinghy, the GP14 immediately became popular with the day sailor, the cruiser and the serious racer. The current design, the Series 2, was adopted in 1994 and features in-built buoyancy compartments. Even today,... (more)

On our kit the deck panels are so cut that the grain forms an arrow head down the length of the boat. This greatly enhances the beauty of the hull but is no more difficult for the customer to achieve than the standard method because we do the selecting and cutting of the wood.

Our GP14 kit is for the Series 2 version with the under floor buoyancy, sealed fore tank and flooding side tanks. The Association has given us Approved Builder status so the boat you build from our kit should comply with their strict regulations. This is essential if you want to race and will add a very substantial amount to the value of the boat.

The GP is built in the traditional manner, albeit with epoxy rather than glue and screws, our demonstration boat was built in just over 4 weeks. This is the fastest time possible. It should be considered a long term project: a few hours per night a few days per week. In this manner three months should be allowed.
Customers use the GP for many different purposes and so have different specifications. Thus the price is only for the pre-cut wood and joints, construction manual and plans. In other words it is for the hull only and excludes the mast, centreboard, tiller and rudder.

Kit comprises:

· pre-cut wooden parts
· set of plans
· Construction Manual
· Epoxy, pumps & fillers
