The Mill Creek is a kayak with a cockpit so large that it is almost an open boat. An open boat with a huge volume of buoyancy. This makes a wonderful sailing boat, see below. The boat sails well with a standing or balanced lug sail.

The Mill Creek was designed as a wider, shorter, and more stable alternative to the typical sea kayak. It offers the stability sought by nature photographers, fishermen and bird watchers. It has a large cockpit to allow easy entry and exit while the high coaming ensures a fairly dry cockpit even without a spray deck.

The Mill Creek’s multi-chine hull and relatively long waterline give a surprising turn of speed. All three sizes track solidly even in big seas and strong winds. The Mill Creek 13 is light and easy to carry on a roof rack whilst still providing enough capacity for camping gear. The Mill Creek 15 is faster and easier to paddle due to the longer waterline and narrower beam. The Mill Creek 16.5 will carry two adults together with camping gear but is still light enough to be paddled by one. It can be fitted with a sailing system or a drop-in rowing unit or, if you want excitement, we have a kit for outriggers that are attached with clips and which turns it into a fast trimaran.
