The North Bay is based upon the design of traditional West Greenland kayaks. The high volume bow and stern and a flared hull ensure good performance in rough water. The flat aft deck and high ends make for simple rolling. The narrow hard chine hull gives a fast, good tracking boat. This type of kayak is not designed for use with a rudder.

The North Bay is available in two versions which vary in beam: the narrow one is recommended for expert paddlers only. The beamier XL is has more initial stability, footroom and storage space.

The cockpit is 24 inches long by 15.5 inches at its widest point on the standard boat. 26 inches by 15.5 inches on the more popular XL

Many paddlers believe that the traditional kayaks of the West Greenland coast represent the highest form of kayak development. Drawing on thousands of years of evolution, the North Bay are modern renditions of the beautiful and able West Greenland-style boats. Like the Inuit skin-on-frame originals, the North Bay designs have a narrow beam for speed, hard chines for carving turns and maximum initial stability, and strongly upswept bows and sterns for performance in waves. In short: these kayaks are fast, responsive, and great fun. Not a beginner's boat, the 20-inch wide North Bay will reward experienced paddlers with speed and manoeuvrability. A flat aft deck and high buoyancy in the bow and stern makes the North Bay especially suited to rolling techniques. The ergonomics of the small cockpit are also geared towards paddlers who know how to brace and roll.
